equipping, encouraging and inspiring you in your own faith
Each holiday season, these were only a few of the myths that flooded my mind at the dinner table while everyone else prayed over our meal.
If we can be real with God and real with the people that He’s placed in our lives then every pain we feel can be redeemed if we let it.
In the formula to result in relationship with God, surrender comes before obedience. Accepting the invitation of love comes before submission to good deeds and following commandments. God’s perfect love is not something to be afraid or hesitant of, for fear indicates punishment and, in fact, “Perfect love casts out fear” (1 John 4:18). Instead, God invites you into His embrace and refuses to invade your willingness. God gave us a free will that we would choose relationship with Him on our own rather than forcing us into His control.
And I remember looking over at him at one point knowing I needed to whisper some encouragement in his ear. When I leaned in, I was planning on saying something like “don’t worry” or “I love you” or “God’s got this” - all things I would have meant from the bottom of my heart. But when I opened my mouth, the craziest words came out and I am convinced they were not my own, y’all.
“This does not define us.”

Trip recaps, suggestions and favorite tips
Here we are at the grand finale of the trip! I absolutely love New York City. I've had a heart for this city since I was young and every time I visit my heart beats a little faster. I knew when we decided to do an east coast trip that it wouldn't be complete without another visit to the Big Apple. While I loved the other cities we visited, this part of the trip was my favorite! We had 3 days to explore the city so I jam packed as much in as possible.
Next stop on the East Coast adventure was the city of brotherly love! We rented a car in D.C. and drove a quick 2 1/2 hours to Philadelphia. As a history nerd, I wanted to see all the historic places in Philly. We only spent 2 days in Philly, but for us it was enough time to see everything in Old City on our list.
Our first stop on our east coast trip was Washington D.C.
This city is unique in the fact that it holds the heart beat of our country. There's so much to see and a lot of walking involved, yet it doesn't seem like it's that big of a city. We spent 4 days in D.C. just so we could see as much as possible with all the museums, building tours, shopping and historical places. Get ready to put your walking shoes on as I take you through our nation's capitol!
