How to Dream with God and Discern His Vision for Your Life
We all have dreams, but not all dreams come from God.
Some are formed by fear. Others by comparison. But then there are the ones that come in quiet moments of prayer or clarity. The ones that feel too big for us but somehow still feel right. These are the dreams we bring before God. The ones we ask Him to confirm, clarify, and shape.
In this episode of The Trailblazer Talks, Courtney shares her personal business journey and offers a clear, biblical process for dreaming with God and discerning His vision for your life.
From Corporate Ladder to Kingdom Calling
Courtney didn’t always plan to be an entrepreneur. In fact, for most of her life, she pictured herself climbing the corporate ladder. But during a prayer moment at a student conference, she felt the Holy Spirit whisper a new direction: writing, speaking, and using her creativity for kingdom impact.
What started as a devotional project became the seed for a business. With no budget and limited resources, Courtney taught herself how to build websites, design layouts, and launch a brand. That side hustle eventually became Little Creative Company and years later, her full-time calling.
The Foundation for Vision: Identity and Intimacy
Before we can dream with God, we have to start with who we are.
Courtney teaches that identity is foundational. If you don’t know who you are in Christ, your dreams will be shaped by insecurity or fear. But when you remember that you are God’s handiwork, created for good works, it shifts everything.
The second foundation is knowing who God is. When you trust His character, you can trust His timing. You can bring your hopes to Him without needing to control the outcome.
Write the Vision and Surrender the Outcome
Habakkuk 2 tells us to write the vision and make it clear. Courtney encourages listeners to start by doing a simple brain dump of every dream, idea, or nudge that’s on your heart. Then, take it to God in prayer.
Ask Him to confirm what aligns with His will. Lay down anything that feels rooted in comparison or striving. And remember, God’s dreams are always anchored in His Word. They won’t contradict His character or Scripture.
Writing the vision is not about control. It’s about alignment.
Obedience Before Opportunity
Many people get stuck waiting for the perfect moment. But Courtney reminds us that most of God’s invitations start small. A journal entry. A conversation. A shift in mindset. She shares how her own steps of obedience, even the unseen ones, laid the foundation for future fruit.
Sometimes we wait for clarity when what we really need is courage. God often reveals the next step after we start walking.
Discernment, Delay, and God’s Timing
Not every dream is for now. Some are for a later season. Courtney shares how she felt called to take her business full-time five years before she actually did. The delay wasn’t disobedience. It was preparation.
Waiting doesn’t mean you missed it. It might just mean God is still working behind the scenes.
